How to get photos from your wedding guests
Updated by Scan & Snap
Give guests one simple place to put their photos, make it visible on the day with QR codes on the tables, mention it during the speeches, and send the link again a day or two later. It's not too late if your wedding has already happened: send the link with a short, personal message.
Before the wedding
Choose where the photos will go, and set up your QR code. Test it on someone else's phone. Add a line to your wedding website or invitations if you have time, and tell your bridal party, as they can remind others. Check your album will still be open after the wedding.
On the day
Put a card on every table and a sign where people queue, such as at the bar. Ask your MC to mention it once, ideally just before the speeches or the first dance. Here's the wording for your signs, and for your MC to say.
The day after
This is when people have time to look at what they took. Ask a sibling or friend to post the link in any group chats, so you don't have to while you're heading away.
If the wedding has already happened
You can still collect plenty. Send a personal message to the people most likely to have photos. Try this: "We're putting together all the photos from the wedding. If you took any, we'd love to see them. It takes a minute, with no app: [your link]"
Message people individually where you can, as it's much harder to ignore than a group post. And ask for specific moments: "Did you get any of the dancing?" can jog someone's memory better than a general request.
Common mistakes
- Asking guests to install an app or create an account.
- Printing a QR code without testing it.
- Asking once on the day, and never again.
- Letting a free album close before you've saved the photos.
