How to make a QR code for guests to upload photos
Updated by Scan & Snap
To make a QR code for photo uploads, you need a tool that creates an album with an upload page and a code that opens it. In Scan & Snap, type your event's name and press Create QR Code. You get the code, a guest link and printable table cards straight away, free and with no sign-up.
What a photo upload QR code actually does
A QR code is just a web link in a form a phone camera can read. A plain QR code generator can link to anything, but it won't give you somewhere for the photos to go. For guests to upload, the link has to open a page that accepts photos and stores them in an album you control. That's why you need an album tool, rather than a general QR code generator.
Step 1: Create the album
Go to the free QR code tool and type your event's name, for example "Aoife & Cian's Wedding". Under Advanced settings you can add the date and choose whether guests can browse the album or only upload to it. Press Create QR Code. There's no account to set up.
Step 2: Bookmark your private dashboard
The page you land on is your dashboard. It's private to you, and it's where you manage the photos, so bookmark it straight away. Keep this link to yourself, and give guests the guest link or the QR code.
Step 3: Print the QR code
From the dashboard, download the QR code or print the ready-made table cards. Print one and scan it with your own phone before you print the rest, and keep the code at least 3cm wide so it scans easily from across a table. Avoid glossy paper under bright lights, as reflections can make it harder to scan.
Step 4: Put it where guests will see it
Table cards, a sign at the entrance or bar, the order of service, and the invitation all work. Add a short line telling people what to do: see our sign wording examples. Mentioning it out loud once during the event also helps.
Step 5: Test the whole thing
Scan the code with an iPhone and an Android phone if you can, and upload a test photo. Then check it appears in your dashboard and delete it. If the venue signal is weak, uploads pause and resume when the phone reconnects, and guests can always finish later.
What you get for free
A free album includes the QR code, guest link, printable table cards and up to 50 photos, kept for 7 days at web size (2048px). It doesn't include videos or a ZIP download. If you need those, or more than 50 photos, you can upgrade from the dashboard for a one-off €29 or €59.
